Connect SuperCognit to VS Code
VS Code's agent mode uses MCP servers declared in mcp.json, with OAuth for remote servers. Add your SuperCognit workspace and Copilot Chat can create and edit agents, build knowledge bases from your docs, register endpoints as tools and inspect conversations — inside the editor and shareable with the team through the repository.
Connection details
// .vscode/mcp.json
{
"servers": {
"supercognit": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://mcp.supercognit.com/platform/<workspace>/mcp"
}
}
}Replace <workspace> with the workspace slug shown under Integrations → Platform MCP, and <api-key> with a workspace API key when your client does not sign in with OAuth. Published MCP servers connect the same way at their own URL.
What you can do once it's connected
Team-shared connection
Commit .vscode/mcp.json and every contributor gets the SuperCognit server, each signing in with their own account.
Tools from your API
Ask the agent to read your OpenAPI spec and register the endpoints as SuperCognit tools, then attach them to the right agent.
Docs to knowledge
Push the docs folder into a knowledge base and refresh after releases, from the same chat.
Inbox in the editor
Fetch conversations and leads, see tool calls, and fix instructions or tools without switching apps.
How to connect
1. Copy your workspace MCP URL
Integrations → Platform MCP in the dashboard. One URL per workspace.
2. Add the server
Run MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP and paste the URL — or create .vscode/mcp.json with a supercognit entry of type http.
3. Sign in
Start the server from the MCP view; VS Code runs the OAuth sign-in to SuperCognit. For a key instead, add an x-api-key header using an input variable so it is not stored in the file.
4. Enable the tools in agent mode
Open Copilot Chat in agent mode, tick the SuperCognit tools in the tools picker and ask it to list your agents.
Frequently asked questions
.vscode/mcp.json travels with the repository; the user-level configuration follows you across projects. Use the repo file when the agent belongs to that codebase.
Agent mode with MCP tools is part of Copilot Chat in VS Code; other VS Code AI extensions with MCP support can use the same server.
Use a read-only API key, or keep OAuth and rely on the tool approval prompts — VS Code asks before each write tool unless you allow it.
SuperCognit adds tools as the platform grows; VS Code picks them up on the next server start. Existing tool names stay stable.
Your workspace, one MCP URL away
Create a workspace, copy the MCP URL from Integrations → Platform MCP, paste it into your agent — free for 7 days.
Start buildingClaude
Add your SuperCognit workspace to Claude as a custom connector: build agents, update knowledge bases and read your inbox from a Claude chat, with one OAuth sign-in.
Claude Code
Add your SuperCognit workspace to Claude Code with one command. Create agents, update knowledge bases and wire tools from the terminal, with OAuth or a workspace API key.
Claude Cowork
Give Claude Cowork access to your SuperCognit workspace: it can build agents, refresh knowledge and report on conversations as part of a longer task on your desktop.
